Lord,
You tell us in Jeremiah 29:11 (ESV) "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."

I thank You for not allowing me to go to Hollywood where I would have sold my sold to be in the presence of a celebrity. At eighteen I was not just young but naive. Any given moment I would have gotten used and abused. The hour has come where the city of angles has been exposed for being Satan's playground. It is as if everybody from the actors to the executives are pawns on behalf of the principalities that rule this wicked world. Growing up I use to want to go to California so I could see the magical nine letters that sit on Mount Lee. Now at thirty-one every dream of me ever going to this place has been diminished.
I thank You for not allowing me to pursue my fleshly desires. There was a time in my life when I was extremely insecure. Carrying around this insecurity I started to defile Your divine order for what is a man and what is a woman. I would seek pleasure in all the wrong things. My good deeds and accolades had replaced my praise and worship of You. Every day is a battle to stay pure, clean and celibate. It has been through Your grace and mercy that has given me the time to grow out of those old patterns, thoughts, tendencies and phases.
I thank You for not handing me my dreams but giving me the purpose you had for me from the moment I was formed in my mother's womb. Writing for a prominent publication such as The Atlantic or Times Magazine was the yes factor for me. I used to picture myself wearing dashing attire and driving to work in a Mercedes-Benz. My office would sit inside of a building somewhere in midtown Manhattan. Contents and themes of my writings would range from my upbringing to op-eds on current events. Instead, my room is my office. I can wear whatever I please. I work my own hours. I have insurance. You have truly blessed me and set me up for a long-lasting career and life.
I thank You for a loving mother. This is the woman that named me. She has been my rock and confidant. Every unique trait that I possess comes from this woman. In spite of our differences and outlooks the bond we share is concrete. Honor and respect will always be placed on her name.

I thank You for ushering me into manhood. My journey into manhood was paved with court hearings and classrooms. Although my walk with You was not the best, I still felt Your presence and knew that Your hand was over my life. It would be during the pandemic where I would fully submit to You. My tenure between courtrooms and classrooms were over. I would get on my knees before Your throne. I was bare owning no degree and no career. It was at this moment where it all began.
May whoever read the words within the nine pages of this series be blessed and made whole. Let every theme and idea inspire generations to come. Use me as a living vessel who obeys Your voice and assignments. Help me not to boast in my own gifts and talents but to stand strong in Your power and glory. Open doors that no man can shut. The pen belongs to You. Chapters begin and end on Your command. All of Your plans have led me down the right pastures. And for that I want to say thank you Lord.
In Jesus name, Amen.
