Count It All Joy (Acts I&II)

Tossing and turning in my bed I dream of a better life and better days. My wife Vanessa is white. We have been married for eight years. Together we have two daughters Ruth (6) and Esther (3). On the way is baby number three. Vanessa wants a boy while I want another girl (for some reason I have been obsessed with the name Sarah). Porkchop, an all-white American Bully is a beloved addition to our family. He is fun, loving, and protective. If this guy was human, he would be a well-trained marine. Vanessa, Ruth, and Esther love Porkchop and so do I. Holding each other with our bodies touching, me and Vanessa both had some growing up to do. Between both of our accomplishments we have come to the conclusion that we have made it.

Raised a Bronxite I am proud to call Oakland, California my home. Me and my family live in a three-bedroom house located on 1600 Prosper Ave. Because of my salary the house was renovated from the inside out. The original design was not terrible. I just wanted something for Ruth and Esther that would boost their self-esteem and confidence. Going out to have fun is not a necessity for the Montgomery's. Our backyard is spacious enough to do a handful of activities. Cookouts. In-house camping. Playing fetch with Porkchop. You name it we have tried it. If you want to feel as though you are inside a royal palace you are welcome to pay us a visit.

Phace Magazine is where I feel large and in charge. Founder, CEO, and Editor-at-large of Phace means the world to me and my family. Phace is what wakes me up in the morning. Phace is what puts food on the table. Phace is my lifeline. Phace is everything to me. Phace Magazine's office is stationed in San Francisco. Topics that are featured differ from current events, politics, sports, movie and tv show reviews, to popular culture. All of this was birthed through my ninth grade English teacher Mr. Napoli. Wherever he is I would like to thank him.

Waking up I rub the crust out of my eyes. To my left and to my right there is no one in sight. I have no wife. I have no children. I do not have a love life. I do not even have a preference. If I ever marry or have children, it is in God's hands. Jim, a black furred cat is a cute and well-mannered addition to my household. My mother's job requires her to leave the house early and come back home late. My sister is in her first year of college. And I have a brother that has Autism who just finished high school. Within all of this chaos I am still able to find peace.

I am not ashamed to say that I am a thirty-year-old who still lives with his mother. It is safe to say that Edenwald Houses has been the place I call home since birth. My morals and values have all been instilled in me from this community. Memories bring back nostalgia. Children playing Skully. Old men playing chess. Old women sitting together gossiping. Veterans retelling war stories. Hustlers. Hitmen. Prostitutes. Edenwald may have its good, bad, and ugly but I will always call it home.

Blogging has been my calling since 2018. When I left college, I had no job. no connections, and no degree. The only things that I had at my disposal was the gift of writing and the belief in my abilities to succeed. As I progressed as a writer, I would break my own records as it pertained to the viewership on published pages. Doing blog series are a healthy way to tell stories and discuss the issues of our day. Not being a registered student within the four walls of a classroom feels refreshing. Seven years of blogging and I am proud to say that I have more blog pages than college credits.

Through and through. Thick and thin. I count it all joy.
